Over the whole island of Sardinia are around 7,000 "Nuraghi". These ancient megalithic edifices are scattered in the northwest and south-central parts of the island and are the symbol of Sardinia. The conical, truncated towers sometimes reach a height of 25 meters. These can be 4-7 m thick and originate from around 1500 BC. They look like fortresses, houses, temples and tombs. Especially those located in north of Cagliari and in the city of Sassari are worth a visit.
